At an elevation of 2351 ft. and 9317 acres, it's home to several species of fish, including tench, walleye, peamouth, bull trout, brook trout, brown trout, yellow perch, black crappie, rainbow trout, brown bullhead, grass pickerel, largemouth bass, signal crayfish, smallmouth bass, largescale sucker, mountain whitefish, northern pikeminnow, pumpkinseed sunfish and westslope cutthroat trout. Box Canyon Reservoir provides good shoreline access and a boat launch.
